I thought I might offer some clarification on this.
Handhelds is a deviant category that related specifically to handheld computers, such as Palm, Panasonic, Clie etc. It is primarily for skins; however some new categories with the tier are flagged to be added.

This is NOT a category for Hand Drawn art, you can find that over in the Indy art category.

Hello, I have taken over as Gallery Director here, I am currently in the process of trying to clean up the gallery, however this may take some time due to the huge amount of miscategorized work. Rest assured that once I am done we will have this gallery looking spick and span. :)

Bobby Hatfield, one of the singers of the Righteous Brothers, died Wednesday evening at the age of 63.

Hatfield’s manager David Cohen said that his body was discovered in the bed of his hotel room 30 minutes before he and this singing partner Bill Medley were scheduled to perform at Western Michigan University. The cause of death is unknown until after Hatfield's body has undergone an autopsy.

The Righteous Brothers where best known for their song “Unchained Melody”, a song that is said to be the best songs of the late 1960s. They also release the song “You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling”, which has been confirmed as the most played song in American radio history
Here is to you bobby, the blue eyed soul singer; you will be greatly missed.

M.G. Vassanji has taken Canada most prestigious prize for the second time. His book, The In-Between World of Vikram Lall was proclaimed the year's best English-language novel by the Giller jury in the Giller literary awards. His prize was a grand $25,000. The event was hosted by .This hour has 22 minuets. co start Mary Walsh who also happens to be the host of Canada Televison(CTV) series .open book..

Vassanji won the Giller prize back in 1994 with his world acclaimed novel .The Book of Secrets.. Which was the first year the awards where held started by Jack Rabinovitch to honour his late wife the literary journalist Doris Giller, who was Canadas best loved and most renowned journalist.

The story he won the prize for  is set in the 1950s during the Mau Mau rebellion in Kenya. It tells the story of an 8 year old Vikram Lall boy who is trying to become an Indian among British and African friends. The book is what can only be described as sensational and I personally would commend it to anyone who enjoys a well thought out, interesting book.

The other writers who made the short list were Margaret Atwood, nominated for .Oryx and Crake., John Bemrose for .The Island Walkers., John Gould for .Kilter: 55 Fictions., and Ann-Marie MacDonald for .The Way the Crow Flies..

You can find more information on the Giller Prize here

A research group at Philips and Eink is currently developing a new type of display technology they call electrowetting. The technology takes advantage of an oil that does not mix with water. The coloured oils can be manipulated quickly and accurately to produce video displays, the researchers say. When a voltage is passed threw the paper, the oil will move rendering the paper white. The images can switch quickly from one colour to the next, this in the end will produce very high-definition moving or still pictures. Once the image is on the screen the power source can be removed and the image will stay on the “screen”. It can then also be bent moved and even folded without losing any quality to the images being displayed. In addition, they demonstrated a colour concept which is intrinsically four times brighter than reflective liquid-crystal displays and twice as bright as other emerging technologies. The screens currently can display up to 160 pixels per inch comfortably.

Philips predicts this technology will be ready the end of this year/early next and will be used for wall mounted computer screens, moving clothes, palm pilots and school text books. An interesting new use for this technology could be within the art community. Imagine being able to take your art with you anywhere folded up in your pocket digitally without having to worry about printing it at a low quality, ink smudging or even it getting ripped. In the future we could find art galleries no longer need to put framed pictures on the wall, all they would need to do is wallpaper the gallery with Eink paper and change the images on it electronically. The future of displaying art is here deviants, let us embrace it.
